WHAT IS COLLAGE?

Put very simply it is cutting or tearing paper and sticking it down!

I will be teaching different techniques and styles. It is a relaxing and creative way of making abstract or figurative images.

July Tuesday afternoons 1.30-4.30pm

7th, 14th, 21st and 28th July

August Saturday Mornings 10am -1.00pm

8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th August

COST

Each session will cost £20 per person for 3 hours including all materials and refreshments. Please commit to coming to all 4 sessions. (ie £80.00 for the course.)

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

Anyone!!

The course is suitable for complete beginners, it is equally suitable for professional or amateur artists or students wanting to extend their practise and meet like minded people.

EXHIBITING

You will have the opportunity of displaying your work from the course at the Heritage Open Days in September and the Beverley Open Studios in October.

WILL THERE BE FOLLOW ON CLASSES AFTERWARDS

After the four weeks there is an option for the course to continue as a weekly or fortnightly event if enough people are interested.

I imagine that after the four weeks students will carry on with more personal projects that might take longer to complete than a single session,I will be there as a facilitator and mentor but can also set projects for those who want me to.

In the future there may be other short courses eg Lino or sgrafitto ceramics and there may be guest tutors.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

First week: a collage bird from magazine pages

Second week: A semi abstract collage on a board from a still life set up.

Third week: A concertina story collage made from painted and stamped paper and found and constructed lettering.

Fourth week: A chance to do your own project or finish previous weeks work and a mini exhibition of all the work from the course.

You will need to do some preparation at home between the sessions.
